Dedicated Abellio driver, Agostinho Ferreira, who has spent over a decade serving London customers, has been nominated for the esteemed ‘Accessibility Award’ in the 2023 TfL London Bus Awards.

Agostinho’s exceptional customer service, particularly his attentive approach towards passengers requiring additional assistance due to visible and non-visible disabilities, has earned him the nomination. His keen attention to passengers’ needs, which includes ensuring the bus is lowered and customers are given sufficient time to sit safely, has been central to his success.

Agostinho’s career achievements at Abellio have established him as a much-respected mentor. He spends time training and supporting new drivers, imparting his customer service skills and accessibility expertise. Abellio says his actions are helping shape the future generation of drivers and contributing significantly to making the London bus network accessible to everyone.

“I am honoured to be shortlisted for this award, getting my customers where they need in safety and comfort, and making sure that buses are available for everyone makes me very proud,” Agostinho says.

Abellio’s Operations and HR Director, Lorna Murphy, has confidence in Agostinho’s deservedness for the accolade: “Agostinho deserves recognition for his outstanding service to accessibility on London buses. Our customers are always his priority. He gives so much to them, but also gives his time to mentor and train new drivers; we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that he wins.”
