Remote maintenance specialist GTG Engineering Services has moved into its first fixed base in Bursledon, catering to coaches, buses, minibuses, HGVs and vans.
The site opens officially on 3 March and includes a single bay workshop that will carry out MoTs, brake testing, periodic maintenance inspections, servicing, general repairs and parts refurbishment.
The site is located centrally on the south coast, on the A3 corridor with proximity to London, Southampton and Portsmouth.
GTG’s plans for the site already include IRTEC accreditation and a list of equipment upgrades.
While the supplier continues to offer remote services and fleet support across the country, the choice to open a fixed base aims to accommodate operators with no dedicated workshop facilities of their own, many of which seek a maintenance provider with its own dedicated facility.
“Most operators want to know that maintenance is being carried out safely, reliably and with an uninterrupted service,” says Garrett Grant, Director of GTG. “They want to know their investment is safe and in the hands of professionals. All our engineers are IRTEC accredited and carry out work to the highest standard.
“We’re looking for growth and diversifying means we’ll be able to supply maintenance packages on the south coast in addition to the work we do for operators nationally. Demand has increased for our services, and working in a different way through this new workshop space is a great addition to what we already do.”
GTG Engineering Services already has a strong reputation as a remote maintenance provider; it counts National Express and Stagecoach among its major customers and comes as a recommended maintenance provider by DVSA. Mr Grant notes the company now carries out some 200 plus MoTs per year, achieving a 100% pass rate.
“This is a brand new service and we’re here to help local operators in the Hampshire region,” he adds. “Come and meet us and see what we can do for you, whether that is at our new workshop, or using our remote service.”
The business will monitor the performance of the new workshop with the view to potentially opening more fixed bases if it proves a success.
