Digital transportation platform Optibus and IT provider HITOUCH have announced plans to enhance visual communication systems for public transport operators across the UK.
The partnership, which aims to streamline the transformation of service data into state-of-the-art passenger information displays, could revolutionise the way commuters access route details and schedules.
The alliance will integrate HITOUCH’s visualisation solution ‘geo.zpheres’ with the Optibus platform, enabling transport operators to convert service data into visually compelling, easy-to-understand information materials.
geo.zpheres allows the transformation of geographic paths into “any desired form” according to HITOUCH, while keeping the reference to the original geographic data.
The automation aims to save time and effort, enabling operators to prioritise passenger experience. Optibus says it will give “transportation operators of all backgrounds… the ability to seamlessly go from planning services to creating stunning passenger information displays in just a few clicks.”
The venture has been welcomed as a breath of fresh air in an industry where passenger information systems can often be complex and time-consuming to manage.
Amos Haggiag, CEO and co-founder of Optibus, highlights the importance of clear, accessible information for passengers. “The passenger experience isn’t just about the ride,” he says. “It’s also about how easily passengers can understand service information. Through our partnership with HITOUCH, we are excited to provide all transportation professionals with the ability to create beautiful, state-of-the-art passenger information displays at the click of a button.”
Oliver Westphal, CEO of HITOUCH, echoes Mr Haggiag’s sentiments, adding: “Creating an intelligent transportation system isn’t just about planning and operations. It’s also about passenger communication. We are excited to partner with Optibus to enable operators to design easy-to-understand passenger information systems with geo.zpheres in a highly automated way.”
With extensive experience in international transportation projects, including work with renowned organisations like the Société de transport de Montréal, Transport for London, and the Transport Authority of Zurich, HITOUCH brings considerable expertise to the partnership.
