East Riding of Yorkshire Council has taken delivery of a further 10 Mellor Strata HF high-floor accessible minibuses mounted on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter underframe.
The purchase increases to 45% the Mellor presence in the local authority’s passenger carrying fleet of over 100 vehicles. Completion of the deal followed a tender process. Specification of each Strata HF includes 16 Phoenix Blenheim seats, a Ricon inboard lift, Eberspächer climate control and CCTV from 21st Century.
East Riding will use the vehicles on home-to-school transport for children with special educational needs, along with services for adults attending day care provision. Also in the local authority’s fleet are a number of accessible minibuses from Mellor’s sister company Treka.
Speaking about the delivery, East Riding of Yorkshire Council Transportation Services Group Manager Colin Walker says: “We are very well acquainted with the Mellor Strata product. Specification is spot on, particularly the wide body which gives plenty of accessibility between seat rows. It really does suit our needs precisely.
“Reliability plays a big part too, and our fleet maintenance department rates the Strata highly in this respect. We find Mellor especially easy to deal with. It listens to our feedback, and it adapts accordingly. That is a really important aspect of the relationship.”
