J&DS Halcrow of Shetland has taken delivery of two Enviro200 buses, built and supplied by Alexander Dennis.
They will be used on scheduled routes including that from Lerwick to Sumburgh Airport. Each is a 10.8m example with 40 seats trimmed in Camira moquette and with three-point belts at each fixed position.
Wood-effect flooring from Altro has been specified along with a Mobitec passenger information system. That includes the exterior destination displays and two internal screens for next-stop details.
Good performance from previous Enviro200 deliveries to JD&S Halcrow was a factor in the repeat business, says Partner Jamie Halcrow.
“The Enviro200 has proven itself to be a very capable and efficient performer on our scheduled bus routes across Shetland, so it was an easy decision to return to Alexander Dennis for another two buses,” he notes.
The new arrivals will join two examples of the current Enviro200 model with the operator and replace a pair of previous-generation examples. Mr Halcrow adds that the Enviro200 “gives us a great combination of passenger capacity and manoeuvrability on the island’s roads.”
Alexander Dennis Retail Sales Director Charlie Miller has thanked the operator for its further business. Contract Manager Chris Hampson hosted Douglas and Shiela Halcrow at the manufacturer’s Scarborough plant for sign-off of the vehicles.
