Safeguard’s new Metrocity was handed over to employee Emilio Dubra

Safeguard Coaches, based in Guildford, has named a brand new Metrocity supplied by Optare (01977 687200) after long-serving staff member Linda Chambers, who retired recently.

The 10.8m Metrocity seats up to 37 and it is powered by a Euro 5 Cummins engine coupled to an Allison 2100-series gearbox.

It joins a fleet that already has nine Optare buses, and a further Metrocity to the same specification will arrive next month.

Says Optare Regional Sales Manager Chris Hunt: “I am delighted that Safeguard has chosen to add two Metrocitys to its growing fleet of Optares. The lightweight Metrocity has a reputation for delivering great fuel economy.”

The bus was handed over to Emilio Dubra, who is now Safeguard’s longest-serving employee.
