Shuttle Buses has become the first independent operator to take delivery of a member of the Alexander Dennis next-generation battery-electric bus range with the arrival of an Enviro100EV.
It has been part-funded by the first round of the Scottish Zero Emission Bus challenge fund and is running from the employee-owned business’s base in Kilwinning.
The Enviro100EV is a 25-seater with room for a wheelchair user and has 354kWh of battery capacity. Testing by Zemo Partnership has certified the model’s energy consumption at 0.54kWh per kilometre over the UK Bus Cycle.
Operational data is logged by AD Connect telematics, which the operator can access via its AD24 account to see how the bus is performing.
Speaking about the arrival, Shuttle Buses Managing Director Ross Granger says: “The Enviro100EV is a great addition to our fleet as it gives us a small electric bus with a sensible range and operational flexibility.
“The expertise and experience that has gone into designing this bus is apparent and initial feedback from our drivers shows that they enjoy the experience.”
Adds Alexander Dennis Retail Sales Director Charlie Miller: “We are proud to have been chosen to supply the first Enviro100EV for an independent operator to Shuttle Buses.
“This is a great investment from a respected operator. It has been great to work with the team at Shuttle Buses again – this is not the first time it has ordered new products to market. To have its trust in us is fantastic and very much appreciated.”
