Stagecoach South is a further subsidiary to take delivery of Optare Solo small buses as part of a large order for the type placed by the group.
It has received six that represent an investment of over £1 million. They are for use on the Andover town network, for which they carry Andover Connected branding. At-seat USB charging points, high-backed seats and audio and visual next-stop announcements are part of the specification.
Managing Director Marc Reddy notes that the new buses’ arrival “confirms out commitment to improving bus travel in the region” and that the vehicles represent “a significant investment in our services for the local Andover community.”
A launch of the buses in Andover was attended by Hampshire County Councillor for Andover North and County Council Lead for Universal Services Cllr Kirsty North.
She says: “Commercial bus services… provide a lifeline for many in our area, offering an affordable way to take everyday journeys to work, appointments, and for pleasure. With a £2 fare cap in place until the end of the year, it is a great time to hop on a bus.”
Other Stagecoach subsidiaries to have taken delivery of Optare Solo buses that form part of the group’s recent order include those in Cumbria and North Lancashire, Manchester, South Wales, and West Scotland.
