Two MCV Evotor-bodied B11Rs are among six new vehicles to be delivered to Carnforth operator The Travellers Choice in its 150th anniversary year, all supplied by Volvo Bus.
They represent the first Evotors for The Travellers Choice and sit alongside a pair of B8R coaches with Plaxton bodywork and two B8RLE buses with MCV Evora bodies. The latter are to the newer 10.8m length and will be used by the operator’s sister company Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire in and around Lancaster. One of the B8RLEs has been delivered and the other will follow soon.
Managing Director John Shaw notes that while The Travellers Choice has a long relationship with Volvo, it is a new direction for it to go with MCV bodywork. The Evotors will be used to transport incoming tourists around the UK and Ireland.
Mr Shaw adds that tourism continues to rebound from the pandemic. “We need to be sure that the vehicles we operate are reliable, comfortable and safe,” he notes.
Volvo Bus North of England Regional Account Manager Phil Hudson has thanked the Lancashire operator for its ongoing business. “2022 is a milestone year for The Travellers Choice as it celebrates 150 years, and I would like to wish it a very happy anniversary.”
One of the Plaxton-bodied B8Rs was entered into the 2022 UK Coach Rally, where it displayed commemorative vinyls marking this year’s anniversary.
