Westway Coach Services of West Molesey has continued its heavy fleet investment with the purchase of several further new vehicles.
They follow a Yutong GTe14 battery-electric tri-axle coach delivered earlier in 2025. The first two of four Mercedes-Benz Tourismos have arrived, while on the bus front, a Volvo B8L tri-axle with high-capacity MCV EvoSeti double-deck bodywork is complemented by a pair of Alexander Dennis Enviro400 84-seaters.
Account Manager Josh West says that a Tourismo demonstration led to an initial two-coach order that was quickly doubled to four.
Mr West adds that the demonstrator “proved a hit with our drivers, operationally sound, and certainly turned heads with clients who still associate the three-pointed star with premium quality.”
The B8L EvoSeti will largely be used on work in London. It also quickly made a strong impression, he continues, with air-conditioning in a double-deck bus providing to be a major plus. High-backed real leather seats are fitted and a second EvoSeti is on order.
The Enviro400 pair have replaced two older examples of the type with Westway, and each comes with a digital dash binnacle and a camera monitoring system.
Both new Alexander Dennis arrivals have Lazzerini Pratico seats that are finished in real leather. The upper deck has an air chill system, while also fitted is a radio and public address capability.
Meanwhile, the Van Hool T917 Astron sent by Westway to Equipmake for repower to battery-electric is expected to return home in May.
“It has had some refinement work done, but once it is back with us, it will mark a significant milestone, and subject to trialling, will possibly open alternative doors for our future investments,” continues Mr West.
