A new contract with the University of Cambridge has seen Whippet Coaches take delivery of seven B8RLEs with Wrightbus Eclipse 3 bodywork, supplied by Volvo Bus (02476 210250).

They have air-conditioning, wi-fi and seatback USB charging points, which the operator says will make longer-distance bus journeys more attractive. Part of the route they will be used on serves the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

Says Whippet Coaches’ parent company Tower Transit Group Engineering Director Satnam Cheema: “The majority of our fleet is made up of Volvos and we had no hesitation selecting it again for this order.

“Reliability, fuel consumption and the overall operating experience have all been excellent previously and we believe that this order will be no different.”
