Separate police and Health and Safety Executive investigations are underway after a driver was killed when a double-decker bus he was working on fell on him.
Wayne Lannon, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene on 14 June 2017. alt=”” src=”https://www.route-one.net/wp-content/uploads/Chester-zoo-death.jpg” style=”float:right” />
He was reported to have been carrying out maintenance work on the bus, operated by FE Finch of Ince, Cheshire, in the coach park at Chester Zoo.
The bus had earlier dropped off a school group.
An eyewitness reported a ‘massive bang’ as the double decker came down on top of Mr Lannon, who was working beneath it near the right rear wheel.
The witness added: “There were other drivers stood around in the car park but no one was expecting it.
“After everyone close by realised what had happened, they started searching for a jack to lift the bus.”
