SWITCH Mobility is the next-generation, carbon neutral electric bus and light commercial vehicle company with a single purpose: to enrich lives through green mobility.
Since our foundation in 2021, we have created some of the most advanced zero emission commercial mobility products and solutions available on the market and are a leading force in commercial EV technology.
As a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, we benefit from over a century’s worth of engineering experience. By taking the very best innovators from across the globe and developing revolutionary technologies, we deliver an unrivalled product choice at a global scale, as we speed up the switch to zero carbon transportation.
SWITCH has grown significantly since its formation in April 2021, and we are proud to have hit many exciting milestones ahead of schedule. Today, our team’s hard work has put around 400 electric buses on the road which have covered over 35 million electric miles. And we have a significant order book and firm commitments for a further 6000 vehicles. Our global reach spans two continents – including a new manufacturing facility in Valladolid, Spain – building on our already significant presence in both the UK and India. And we have more sites in the pipeline which we are excited to be announcing soon.
Our fleet of buses and eLCV’s also continues to expand at pace and currently stands at eight vehicles, ideally adapted to the markets they serve. This year alone we have introduced a range of innovative products: India’s first electric double decker, the EiV22; SWITCH’s first 12m electric bus in India, the EiV12; and the first 12m bus for the European market, the SWITCH e1. We don’t rest on our laurels, however, and are looking forward to the unveiling further new products in 2023 for both the UK and Indian markets.
Technology is a natural focus for SWITCH, helping us stay ahead of the curve. The materials used in our monocoque design ensures our produces are strong but ultra-lightweight, improving both durability and range. Our state-of-the-art NMC battery technology and digital twin approach to fleet solutions allows for modular batteries that are truly integrated in our vehicle design. And our use of data and insights ensures optimal safety and the ability for us to keep improving our products, with over 2 terabytes of data analysed daily. To completement our physical technology, OHM Global Mobility, a subsidiary of SWITCH, provides carbon neutral transport solutions through mobility as a service (eMaas) providing a pay as you go option – we take care of the vehicles and their maintenance, so that our customers can focus on the things most important to them.
Landmark strategic partnerships over the last year have included a co-operative technological partnership with Siemens, a strategic agreement with Dana Incorporated and, most recently, a collaboration with Chalo, India’s leading transport technology company, for the deployment of 5,000 buses across the country. Our collaborative approach sees us working with trailblazing companies in the sector to support the growth of sustainable cities.
We want to reimagine sustainable mobility and, as the first global bus manufacturer to be carbon neutral certified, we continue to pioneer the industry’s environmental standards. Crucially, we have reached a pivotal moment of debate around the future of the automotive industry. SWITCH has recognised that it is time to actively strive to contribute to, and lead on environmentally friendly transport solutions, creating a sustainable future for us all.
