Diamond Bus to let passengers travel free for seven days

Tividal-based Diamond Bus will provide free travel to passengers using the service between 13-19 May on its number 3 service, which runs from Kidderminster to Areley Kings.

The offer comes after Traffic Commissioner (TC) Nick Denton told the firm it had to compensate passengers after imposing a financial penalty of £9,075 following a public inquiry in June 2018.

The TC said passengers in the Kidderminster area had been “particularly poorly served” by the company.

In imposing the financial penalty, the TC decided the money should be used to compensate passengers [routeone/Court Report/18 July 2018]. He said that a date set in the future allowed passengers who use monthly passes to change to weekly and take advantage of the free travel.

Diamond Bus challenged the TC’s decision but that appeal was dismissed by the Upper Tribunal. (A full report will be published in Court Report in a forthcoming issue).

As a result, the company has now agreed to give passengers free travel for seven days in May.
