BYD and Alexander Dennis (ADL) have upgraded the market-leading Enviro200EV battery-electric single-decker.
Two existing vehicle lengths have been superseded. The 10.8m model is replaced by a 10.9m example, while the 12m variant is dropped in favour of a 11.6m vehicle. While smaller, it has two additional seats.
Buses at the two new lengths have ADL’s all-electric heating system that utilises a heat pump. It transfers atmospheric heat to the vehicle and runs efficiently in low ambient temperatures. It can also be used in reverse to cool the vehicle. Use of the system enables additional range.
This change brings the models into line with their 10.2m and 9.6m sisters and the double-deck Enviro400EV. Orders have been taken from buyers in the UK and New Zealand. That brings the total number of BYD ADL battery-electric buses delivered or on order to 412.
Says ADL CEO Colin Robertson: “Our partnership continues to go from strength to strength as operators choose reliability and best-in-class support.
“With this upgrade to the BYD ADL Enviro200EV, we build ever more strongly on ADL’s unrivalled experience in designing buses that maximise efficiency, capacity and passenger comfort.”
