Lithuanian converter and bodybuilder Altas has announced that it plans to deliver the first examples of its Iveco Daily-based Viator midicoach to the UK in 2020.

The 8.44m Viator was launched in September 2018 at the IAA show in Hanover. Production in left-hand drive form will begin in Q1 2019.

It will carry a maximum of 29 passengers within a GVW of 7,200kg. In addition to touring-specification variants Altas says that Viator models suited for stage carriage and school bus work will also be introduced. Luggage capacity of 4.5m3 is promised.

“We see that more mid-sized vehicles are in demand, besides the minibuses that we already manufacture,” says Altas General Manager Edvardas Radzevicius. “We are confident that the Viator will be a product that is highly sought-after across Europe.”

A small number of Altas-converted Mercedes-Benz Sprinters are already with UK operators. No pricing details of the Viator have been revealed.
