Hull’s Old Town has been allocated funding

Historic England, the public body that champions and protects England's historic places, has announced £6m to “unlock untapped potential” in heritage-rich areas.

The money will help local authorities bring historic places back to life in order to attract tourists and investors.

The first 10 areas – or Heritage Action Zones – are Appleby, Coventry, Elsecar, Hull Old Town, King's Lynn, Nottingham, Ramsgate, Sunderland, Sutton, and Weston-super-Mare.
