‘Shuttle Day’ for Keighley

Transdev’s the Keighley Bus Company is holding a space-themed Shuttle Day this week to promote its high-frequency service between Keighley and Bradford, the Shuttle.

Space-themed ‘butlers’ will greet passengers on Thursday’s commute

It comes as the operator teams up with Metro to extend its Beacon touchless ticketing trial on the route until June.

Beacon works via an app. When customers use the Shuttle, Beacon works out the best available fare in seconds. It’s been on trial on the Shuttle route since February.

The Shuttle uses 16 buses on the route between Keighley, Bingley, Saltaire and Bradford.

The Shuttle Day on Thursday will see spaceman-themed “bus butlers” welcoming morning passengers aboard with breakfast snacks, and during the day the buses will be in Bingley’s Market Square for space-themed family fun.

Colin Booth, General Manager of the Keighley Bus Company, says: “Our bright blue buses on The Shuttle have become a familiar sight along the old main road between Keighley, Riddlesden, Bingley and Saltaire.

“All 16 buses on the Shuttle feature space-age comfort and technology, including USB charging points at every seat, fast and free wi-fi throughout and bright, welcoming interiors with leather seating for a comfortable ride, no matter where you’re planning to land.

“There’ll also be demonstrations of ‘Beacon’, the space age ticket app which we’re pioneering on The Shuttle with Metro.

“It’s simple to use and saves time and money on every journey, and over 1,200 journeys have been made successfully using the groundbreaking ticket system since the trial began in February. We’re now looking for more volunteers to be among the first to try it in return for half-price travel on the route, with details available from our team on Shuttle Day and online.”
