I regret that BusyBus MD Peter Rosenfield [routeone/Letters/5 September] seems to have missed a point regarding the ‘repetitive’ Driver CPC (DCPC).
As the MD of his business he is free to choose DCPC courses that work for his business and provide genuine value to drivers.
Like all services that an operator buys in, there are good and bad. I do not know who provided the DCPC course – or crucially how much he paid – that he is so critical of, but there are a number of DCPC training providers (including Professional Transport Services) who tailor their courses to meet operators’ needs.
I strongly agree with him when he says there “are proper skills a driver should learn that takes them a step above their non-professional peers”.
Put simply, if Peter is not happy with the training course, he should find an alternative supplier.
