Concorde takes centre stage at new group-friendly museum celebrating aeronautics

Bristol opens its new aeronautics museum in October, Aerospace Bristol.

It’s a heritage museum and learning centre, telling the story of the South West’s aerospace industry in the past, present and future.

The centre, based in North Bristol, will showcase British innovation, design and engineering, with collections of artefacts spanning over 100 years of aviation history.

The pride of the exhibits is Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, designed and built in Bristol, the last Concorde to be built and the last to fly. Concorde cruised at over twice the speed of sound, at an altitude of 60,000ft. Over 100 passengers could fly in luxury on the jet, marvelling at the curvature of the Earth and the blue-black sky above, sipping champagne on the edge of space. Groups can see the jet in its new hangar at the museum, the centrepiece of the attraction.

The centre will also offer an archive store and reading room, conference and meeting spaces, picnic areas and a café and shop.

The attraction promises a ‘first-class experience’ for groups. Pre-booked, the group rate is £10pp for 20+, with guided group tours available for an extra £5pp. There is free on-site coach parking, free admission for the organiser and driver, and a free drink voucher for the driver.
