The Community Transport Association (CTA) Board of Trustees has appointed its new chair, Alan Jones. He will succeed Susan Evans, who stepped down from the role in September of this year.
Alan is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Logistics and Transport UK and International Vice President and Trustee for the Chartered Institute of Logistics International.
CTA says his distinguished career in transport and logistics will help raise the profile of the charity, which works with not-for-profit bodies and community groups to champion accessible and inclusive local transport initiatives.
“I am delighted to welcome Alan as the CTA’s new Chair,” says CTA Vice Chair Lawrence Wilson. “Alan has enjoyed an illustrious career across different parts of the transport sector and has held various senior leadership roles and non-executive positions.
“The skills and expertise which Alan can offer will be highly valuable to the CTA as it supports the community transport sector to develop its profile and grow in influence and impact after a very challenging year.
“As the current Chair of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Alan has experience in leading a membership organisation which will be an added bonus for the CTA.”
Adds Alan: “Community transport is such an important sector and one that makes an enormous difference to the lives of so many people in so many different communities. I know how hard community transport providers work, often without the recognition they deserve, so I’m passionate about ensuring community transport gets a much higher profile to deliver the best services it can.
“I’m looking forward to working with the Board of Trustees and the team at CTA to raise the profile of the organisation and to support its members in all their endeavours.”
