Arriva Midlands has started a trial of an electric vehicle on park-and-ride services in Shrewsbury.
It will be running a demonstration of the single-deck Yutong E10 for three weeks in order to better assess the viability of this type of vehicle on the route, before deploying it elsewhere in Shropshire for further testing.
Jamie Crowsley, General Manager for Arriva Shropshire, says: “We have a responsibility to improve our bus network locally in order to provide a viable, attractive alternative to traveling by car, in order to cut congestion on our county’s roads and lessen the impact that heavy traffic levels has on our air quality locally.
“In order to do this, we need to ensure that our customers are given access to transport that meets their growing expectations in terms of technology and comfort, but that also delivers with regards to environmental standards.”
