Bakers Dolphin again supported the annual Mendip Challenge charity walk on Sunday 2 June. It provided six coaches to assist with the running of the day and to transport participants to starting points in Cheddar and Wells.
The Challenge is organised by Weston Hospicecare. Hundreds of walkers took part in four routes covering different distances depending on their abilities. Those extended from five to 30 miles, with a finishing point of Weston Cricket Club.
Their efforts raised £48,000 for the hospice, which provides palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses in and around Bakers Dolphin’s hometown of Weston-super-Mare.
Speaking about the coach involvement, Sales and Marketing Director Amanda Harrington says: “We have supported the Mendip Challenge on behalf of Weston Hospicecare for a number of years now and it is always a fantastic, heart-warming event that raises such vital funds for this charity.
“As a Weston-super-Mare business, Weston Hospicecare has a special place in our hearts, and we are pleased to be a part of this annual challenge.” Active engagement in community support and development initiatives is a key commitment for the operator, it adds.
