Beverley’s coach campaign includes a raft of goodies

Beverley’s coach welcome has gone seven-days-a-week, thanks to a partnership between Visit Hull & East Yorkshire (VHEY) and Flemingate shopping centre.

The coach welcome service, run by VHEY, has previously operated Monday-Friday, “which meant the town could have been missing out on weekend coach trips and the economic benefits they bring for local businesses,” says VHEY.

By linking up with Flemingate, which runs a service for visiting coaches that includes the weekend, a comprehensive facility can now be offered for the whole of Beverley.

Both services provide benefits for coach companies and tour operators arranging visits to the town.

The VHEY offer includes:

  • Free coach parking
  • Meet and greet
  • Welcome bags for passengers, including discount vouchers, a guide, a map, a pen and a postcard
  • Welcome bags for drivers, including an £8 meal voucher, a drinking beaker, a key ring and a pen
  • Arranged tours and guided walks
  • Pre-booked group coffee breaks/lunches.

The Flemingate offer includes:

  • Free seven-days-a-week coach parking
  • Free secure overnight parking on request
  • Pre-booking for coffee, lunch, dinner or the cinema
  • Passenger welcome bags
  • Driver welcome bags, including an £8 meal voucher and a cinema ticket.

Since launching the coach welcome in 2015, VHEY has seen a steady increase in the number of coach groups in Beverley, with a 30% increase in 2016 alone.

Beverley was a finalist in the British Coach Tourism Awards 2017.

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, says: “Beverley is rapidly becoming a leading visitor destination and we need to be able to cater for the growing number of tourists attracted to our wonderful market town.”

Sharron Wilson, Tourism Marketing Officer for VHEY, says: “More coach parties visiting the town provide real opportunities to boost the local economy. By linking up with Flemingate, we are now able to offer facilities for coaches all week.

“This firmly puts Beverley on the map as a must-visit destination.”
