Shark experiences are available from Sea Life Blackpool – and they’ve surged

Sea Life Blackpool says the new series of Blue Planet 2 with Sir David Attenborough has triggered a sharp increase of group bookings at the attraction.

The new seven-part series, four years in the making, has created a surge in interest in shark dives and feeding sessions in particular. The attraction reports that shark snorkelling bookings are up by 11%.

Sea Life Blackpool offers several shark experiences, including the chance for groups to ‘sleep with the sharks’.

The original series aired 16 years ago, winning multiple Emmys and BAFTAs.

Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Sea Life Blackpool, says: “We’ve not seen anything like it since the last series of Blue Planet. People are really keen to get close to our creatures.

“We’re calling it the ‘Attenborough Effect’, similar to Delia Smith’s legendary impact on cookery sales.”
