A new coach park has opened in Bristol this week and is taking bookings from 1 June onwards, with the existing coach park at Cabot Circus due to close in June.

The facility is a result of a new partnership between Destination Bristol and Bristol Fruit Market, developed to address the lack of provision in the city for the growing market.

The new coach park at Bristol Fruit Market has marked spaces for up to 20 coaches, but will have room for more if there is demand. The site has 24-hour security and facilities for drivers, including an on-site café and toilets available.

In a central location with the city centre just a short distance away as well as the Paintworks development, Avonmeads Retail Park and other local attractions, the coach park is situated ideally to cater for groups visiting Bristol.

John Hirst, Chief Executive of Destination Bristol, says: “I am delighted that we can announce the opening of a new coach park for the city at Bristol Fruit Market. As a city, we welcome coach groups and want to work towards ‘Coach Friendly’ status. This new facility gives us a great base to work from.”

In 2016 the city won ‘Best Shopping Destination for Groups’ at the Group Travel Awards and was proclaimed by Rough Guides as one of the top cities in the world to visit this year, and the latest International Passenger Survey (IPS) data from the Office of National Statistics show the number of overseas visitors staying in the city as part of an organised tour has increased by 25% in the last 12 months.

Drivers can book their coach parking in advance by telephoning 0117 9771655 (24 hours) for £12 for up to 24 hours parking. For more information see www.visitbristol.co.uk/groups
