Alexander Dennis has highlighted what it says it the ‘Britishness’ of its battery-electric bus range with the application of special liveries to an Enviro100EV small single-deck and an Enviro400EV double-deck noting how many cups of tea and slices of toast they could hypothetically make from their respective battery storage power.
The manufacturer says that such an approach links those vehicles to the quintessential British love for tea and toast. Within the builder’s next-generation range of battery-electrics for the UK, they are soon to be joined by an Enviro200 full-size single-deck.
The Enviro400EV, which has 472kWh of battery capacity, carries enough energy to brew what Alexander Dennis claims is 20,296 cups of tea, with that number forming part of the demonstrator vehicle’s livery alongside numerous images of teacups.
Meanwhile, the Enviro100EV demonstrator has 354kWh of storage, which is said to be enough to toast 14,160 slices of bread. Such delicacies, accompanies by jam, have been applied to the bus.
Speaking about the work, External Affairs and Marketing Director Debbie McCreath says: “For many Britons, Alexander Dennis buses are as essential to powering their day as the tea and toast they had for their breakfast.
“With our next-generation electric buses designed in the UK for the requirements of bus operation in the UK, we are proud to celebrate the wider culture of which they are part.
“By showing just how many cups of tea and slices of toast these buses’ batteries could provide, we hope to inspire onlookers with the message that this powerful new generation of electric buses is essential to daily life – and quintessentially British.”
