The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has published a short online survey designed to help the industry during its on-going discussions with key decision makers regarding the five proposed Clean Air Zones and London ULEZ/LEZ.

It is calling on all operators – whether CPT members or not – to complete the survey, in an effort to better understand the emission reduction retrofit equipment requirements of the coach industry.

CPT CEO Simon Posner says: “Our primary concern is the current absence of an accredited retrofit solution for any coach, and CPT remains engaged in detailed discussions with LowCVP, the Energy Saving Trust and the Joint Air Quality Unit regarding this problem.

“CPT continues to highlight to Government at all levels the very serious practical challenges facing the coach sector with regard to Clean Air Zones and the London Ultra Low Emission Zones.

“It is vitally important that we have good quality and reliable coach industry data to hand that will help further support our case when addressing these issues with local and national government and other stakeholders.

CPT plans to share the aggregated data with suppliers who are in the process of developing emission reduction retrofit solutions.

Due to the high costs of retrofit testing and approval, the greater amount of information regarding the more popular models that require retrofit will help them bring forward investment in the development of suitable solutions for the coach sector.

Adss Mr Posner: “I urge all coach operators to take a few moments to complete and return our short survey.

“Your time and support is greatly appreciated and really will help us to help you.”
