Two new Traffic Commissioners (TCs), and four Deputy TCs, have been appointed by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling.

Simon Evans, currently a DTC who mainly hears cases in the North West, replaces Beverley Bell when she steps down in the spring

Colonel Tim Blackmore OBE becomes TC for the North East and Simon Evans TC for the North West. Both take up their new posts in May.

Mr Blackmore fills the post vacated by Kevin Rooney, who took over the West of England in October 2016.

Simon Evans, currently a DTC who mainly hears cases in the North West, replaces Beverley Bell when she steps down in the spring.

The new DTCs are Mark Hinchliffe (North East), Jayne Salt (North West), Laura Thomas (Eastern) and Hugh Olson (Scotland).

Colonel Blackmore currently heads the British Forces Post Office and was commissioned into the Royal Corps of Transport in 1992.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and the Chartered Management Institute.

Mr Evans is currently a DTC for the North West and an Independent Member (Chair) of the Parole Board for England and Wales.

He was previously a Fee Paid Judge on the Social Entitlement Chamber and a Lay Member (Chair) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Fitness to Practice Panel.

An announcement on Beverley Bell's successor as Senior Traffic Commissioner is expected in due course.
