Working with major players in the industry, Alliance Transport Technologies is at the forefront of innovative technologies moving the coach and bus sector forward

When operating coaches and buses, there will come a time when replacement components must be fitted.

It can be a costly process, but a necessary one to ensure the safety and longevity of a fleet. Therefore, choosing the right supplier to suit the specific needs of a business is essential.

Acquiring the right part is all well and good but finding a supplier that can provide aftermarket support plays a huge part in offering operators peace of mind that help is at hand should something go wrong.

That’s where Alliance Transport Technologies comes in.

From electronic component repairs, to providing on-site field technicians and specialist recruitment, Alliance not only delivers all-round aftermarket solutions, but is committed to investing and supporting new technologies to ensure operators’ parts needs are met today and beyond.

Industry expertise

Originally Alliance Electronics when it was formed 26 years ago, the firm rebranded to Alliance Transport Technologies last year to better reflect its complete range of services.

A dedicated team of parts specialists is on hand

Says Director Marc Haley: “The focus was on refurbishing electronic components for the coach, bus and commercial vehicle market. However, we started getting calls from customers asking if we could support them in an aftersales sense.”

As it became clear that there was an opportunity in the market to have a full aftersales offering, the decision was made to expand the business.

While electronic remanufacturing continues to play a key part in the firm’s growth plan, it now means Alliance offers its customers a complete end-to-end aftermarket solution.

“The historic business was a fantastic business in its own right, but we had to listen to the customers and the board realised there was significant opportunity to push the business with the right people,” adds Marc.

Marc and Stuart joined Alliance in 2017, having both previously worked for some of the UK’s industry-leading dealers.

“Alliance is led by industry specialists in each area, we specialise in providing aftersales support. Our expertise in understanding the commercial needs of our clients and coupling them with our trusted products is what sets us apart and is a real USP for the customer,” Marc says.

“The team here is dedicated to ensuring that the customer’s needs are met in a professional and customer-focused manner.”

Fully committed

As well as the rebrand, Alliance’s commitment to becoming the industry’s go-to aftermarket solutions provider has been further demonstrated by the opening of a second premises.

Along with its refurbishment site in Chesterfield, a distribution warehouse was opened in Normanton, Wakefield last year. The 3,000sq ft site houses a dedicated team of parts specialists and aftersales support staff.

“We offer customers specialist field service technicians covering the UK to support coach and bus fleets,” says Marc.

New technologies

Alliance reacts to changing customer needs that are ultimately driven by advancements in transport technology, with its “main drive to be the market leader in new technologies.”

With this in mind, the firm is committed to investing in expertise to support the future e-mobility market and is heavily involved in hybrid and electric vehicle projects. This includes acting as a support partner for BYD.

“We look after its vehicles nationally. And there will be more vehicles introduced across the UK in the coming months,” says Marc.

He adds: “An emotive one for the industry at the moment and one we are heavily involved in is the emissions control sector. We’re also the UK support partner for HJS UK.

“We have an historic pedigree in emissions control retrofit. Bringing this product to Alliance and offering the trusted product we’ve produced in the past has allowed for additional growth in this area in the UK market. We are currently working with some of the large national bus groups and that continues to grow month on month.”

One-stop shop

As part of its remanufacturing services, Alliance repairs and refurbishes almost all coach and bus parts, including AdBlue pumps.

Alliance has 26 years’ experience of refurbishing electronic components

“I don’t think there is another single entity in the industry that’s an independent that does what we do,” says Marc.

“We have competition in each area, but there’s no independent entity that can offer the complete end-to-end solution.”

By offering a complete end-to-end aftermarket solution for its customers, Alliance is a one-stop shop for operators’ requirements.

“It’s all about giving the customer the confidence and the experience in a service they deserve,” he adds.

“You see a lot of businesses trying to make a quick buck, but Alliance is here for the long haul and we’re here to support our customers in to the long term.”
