Daimler Buses is successfully applying the 3D printing process for customers’ special requirements and replacement parts for coaches and buses in the Mercedes-Benz and Setra ranges.
The process is economical and flexible, says Daimler, even for small production series, and 3D printing allows “swift realisation of customers’ individual wishes, small series and replacement parts.”
“In the medium term, we see digital production technologies as harbouring vast potential to enable us to address market and customer requirements in a flexible manner while at the same time minimising investment risks,” says Head of Daimler Buses Hartmut Schick.
Daimler says it can produce high-quality items via 3D printing at a low cost.
