DVSA makes another call for Earned Recognition volunteers

In an attempt to boost interest in volunteers for its pilot Earned Recognition scheme, the DVSA has now published an online guide, along with details of suitable software suppliers and scheme auditors that it has authorised.

The pilot phase, now extended until February 2018, will accept applicants up to November. Uptake in the PCV sector has so far been modest.

The scheme is designed for compliant operators who perform to high standards to remove them from routine roadside enforcement, instead using digital compliance (routeone, Big Story, 13 September).

The scheme is a new way for operators to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards.

Operators regularly share performance information digitally with DVSA. In return, vehicles are “less likely to be stopped for inspections,” says the DVSA.

The DVSA says operators that successfully complete the pilot will get automatic entry to the full DVSA Earned Recognition scheme, with benefits including:

– An exemplary operator, and being able to prove this when you bid for contracts

– Recognised as a DVSA-approved operator on a list on gov.uk

It’s a voluntary scheme designed to work for operators of all sizes and the DVSA is looking for operators with a track record of compliance to join the pilot.
