Former Managing Director of Expo Management and Diversified Communications, Mark Griffin, has recently completed a major consultancy assignment with Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), the biggest event of its kind in the world.

New exhibition venue scheduled to open in Spring 2018

The show organisers are investing £30m in a new exhibition venue scheduled to open in Spring 2018 ready for next year’s show.

Mark has been supporting their sales team by increasing the awareness of the new venue to organisers and corporate clients in the exhibitions industry as part of the marketing campaign.

The event attracts thousands of visitors, many of whom travel by public transport to experience the renowned air display featuring some of the latest aircraft taking to the skies.

Mark says: “Working on this project at Farnborough has been really exciting and certainly my largest client since setting out on my own two years ago.

“The new exhibition and conference building will provide a much needed unique venue in the South of England as capacity for large scale and corporate events there is scarce.

“It has been very interesting working closely with a venue team using my 20 years of experience organising events in the transport and tourism industry.

Mark Griffin: ‘Making a difference’

“The Farnborough investment includes recruitment of full time staff on site now as the venue gears up for opening in a few months time, so my job is done now freeing me up to move onto new opportunities to get my teeth into.”

Over the last two years Mark has worked on and led some major award-winning fundraising projects as well as a number of consultancy assignments for a range of clients in the exhibitions and transport industry.

It has also included lecturing to events management students at Warwick University and strategic work for a number of trade associations.

He continues: “My consultancy structure means that I am able to put my boots on and offer businesses interim or part time support which may need a commercial or strategic management resource.

“My work has enabled me to visit some fantastic events which have been really enlightening to see how companies promote themselves and I m keen to share that experience where needed.

“I’ve also been to some pretty dire shows which is a stark reminder to companies to really make sure that they use their marketing budgets wisely and to maximum effect.

“The charity work keeps me focussed in helping keep a balance. I aim to continue offer my services to businesses in the bus and coach industry whom I have known throughout my career but importantly, where I can make a difference.”

Companies looking for senior level support on interim or consultancy basis can contact Mark in confidence at MAG Consulting on mark.griffin1@outlook.com or 07802 470896
