Caleche Europe has introduced a glass-roofed minicoach that seats up to 17 passengers. It can be built on Ford Transit, Iveco Daily or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base vehicles and it will be followed by a nine-passenger sister based on an M1 Sprinter in 2019, the company says.
The first 17-seaters, built on Sprinter underframes, have already been sold in the UK directly by Caleche, which is currently exploring options for a dealer here.
Unlike an earlier convertible Sprinter brought to the UK by Caleche and a partner, the SkyLite GT has a fixed roof that is made up of sun-protected double-glazing. It also has a powerful climate control system. That, says Caleche, makes it ideal for sightseeing use.
To standard specification, the SkyLite GT comes with leather seats, tables, Alcantara interior LED lighting, a sound system and USB charging points.
Production is undertaken by Polish builder Bus Factory, which exhibited a SkyLite GT at Euro Bus Expo 2018. The first for the UK market will be delivered by June, says Caleche. “Whether it is for business or leisure, the SkyLite GT will make a real difference in passenger transport, regardless of the season,” the company adds.
