Specialist in air suspension retrofit systems for minicoaches and minibuses Glide-Rite has relocated its headquarters to Wirral, but it will retain its existing presence in Hampshire.
“We will continue to install full and partial air suspension conversions in Hampshire, but we now have a 5,000ft3 base on Wirral, just off the M53 motorway,” says Managing Director Carl Leake. All stock will be held at the Birkenhead premises.
Mr Frank says that Glide-Rite continues to see strong interest in its suspension retrofits.
The partial conversion involves replacement of bump stops with airbags, while the full installation sees the OEM system superseded by four airbags. A compressor is part of the package.
“In the full conversion the driver has no control over the suspension; it is automatic and it gives a constant ride height regardless of loading. That benefits handling and passenger comfort.”
Glide-Rite has trained minicoach convertor EVM’s technicians to install its kits, and EVM can add the equipment on the production line at its Kilbeggan plant. Glide-rite has also retrofitted the systems onto existing minicoaches.
When fitted to a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter the full air suspension retrofit gives a 20kg weight gain. It can also be fitted to the Fiat Ducato, Renault Master and Volkswagen Crafter and T6 chassis; the partial conversion can be added to what Mr Leake describes as “almost any commercial vehicle with a GVW of up to 5,000kg.”
Over 100 of Glide-Rite’s full air suspension conversions have been fitted to minicoaches and minibuses, he adds.
