The full programme for the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) Conference at Park Plaza London Riverbank on 23 January has been published.
Under-Secretary of State for Transport Simon Lightwood will kick off the day with his 30-minute keynote address as he attends the trade body’s annual event for the third year in succession.
With Labour having come to power since last year’s conference, the new government’s high-profile plans for buses as outlined in the proposed Bus Services Bill will be the focus of his attention.
The government’s mission of “growth” is duplicated by the conference’s theme. Thus, Martin Dean, Managing Director of Go Ahead, and David Leeder, Founder and Managing Partner of TIL Transport Investment Limited, will talk next on the economic outlook for the UK and what this means for coach and bus.
Coach takes centre stage in the panel discussion “Future of the Coach Market”. CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler chairs a discussion involving Andrew Luckett, Director, BluMarbl; Roland Eglinton, Managing Director, Chalkwell; Gareth Davies, MD – Coaching, First Bus; and Tom Stables, CEO, The Coach Travel Group.
How the industry fits into the government’s housebuilding targets is the subject of discussion for the following panel: Paul Lynch, Managing Director London, Stagecoach Bus and CPT President; Daisy Narayanan MBE, Director of Public Realm, Crown Estate; Allan Pitt, Associate Planner, Arup; Tom Morgan, Managing Director, Trentbarton; Pete Dyson, Author, Transport for Humans.
Sustainability is under scrutiny in the “Green Growth” item involving: Aaron Hill, Cymru Director, CPT; Julia Meek, Director of Business Development (EV Fleet), Zenobe; and Marcus Johns, Senior Research Fellow, IPPR North.
“The New Customer” is the final talking point, as Sara Collier, Senior Public Affairs Manager (Scotland), CPT; Sarah Bartlett, Senior PR Manager, FlixBus UK; and Cora Woodhouse, Marketing and Customer Service Director, Arriva UK Bus take to the stage.
