Imperial Engineering has been appointed as the primary distributor for BYD electric bus parts in the UK.
The supplier, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024, will distribute parts for all BYD buses in service, plus those supporting the new-generation BD11 and B12 vehicles that are entering the UK market.
Imperial Engineering says it already has significant inventory in stock at its stockholding and distribution facility in Harlow, Essex.
It has also implemented a major warehouse management system upgrade to support the agreement with the Chinese manufacturer.
It adds that it will introduce further measures as demand grows following a high-profile launch of its BD11 double-decker near London last June.
The first BD11 examples were delivered to Go-Ahead London, while Uno in Hertfordshire will soon introduce the first in-service BD12 single-deckers.
The parts distributor says it will assist with technical support where necessary, including with identifying specific components for customers’ vehicles.
John Dwight, Imperial Engineering Sales Director, says: “We are thrilled to have been appointed as the primary distributor for BYD in the UK and we look forward to lending our expertise in support of the rapidly growing number of eBuses, as operators expand their zero-emission fleets.
“BYD is one of the manufacturers that’s leading the way in the electrification of public transport and we are pleased to be providing our significant technical and logistics experience to support the provision of parts and aftersales service that customers demand.”
