Ingleby’s Luxury Coaches, the sister company of York Pullman, is celebrating 50 years of luxury coach travel in York and across the UK.
The company, which was founded in May 1968 by Chris Ingleby with a Ford Transit 12-seater mini bus, was originally known as Ingleby’s Mini Coaches.
Four years later, the first full-sized coach was purchased and the trading name changed to Ingleby’s Luxury Coaches. In 1977, the company moved from rented premises to the current site on Hospital Fields Road, Fulford Industrial Estate and “has never looked back since”.
Over the years, the fleet has increased to its present size of 25 vehicles ranging from 16-seater minibuses and modern 33- to 59-seater luxury coaches, to the very latest high-quality 72-seater coaches for education transport.
The firm says: “Throughout all of our history, Ingleby’s has held a firm policy of ‘quality not quantity’, providing traditional great customer service first and foremost in every situation.
“The success of this approach is reflected in the fact that we still today have some customers who have been with us for the full 50 years and we are very proud of this.”
