Irizar UK offers screens and air purifiers to operators

Irizar UK is offering operators two systems – an air purifier and screens – that it says will help to protect drivers and passengers against infection by airborne exhaled droplets.

Those that have the Spanish manufacturer’s i4, i6, i6S or i8 models in their fleet can take advantage of approved transparent isolation screens that have been specifically tailored to fit those coaches.

The screens provide protection both to the driver and to passengers. In the former case, a semi-enclosed cab area is created. For the latter, each pair of passenger seats is divided from those in front and behind.

The screens meet all the necessary regulations relating to interior fitment, including fire, impact and driver indirect vision. Additionally, they do not compromise passengers’ views. A notifiable alteration to DVSA will be required with the fitment of both driver and passenger screens, although Irizar UK advises that it expects the exercise to be possible via a video call.

Suitable for all coaches and buses with an air-conditioning system, regardless of manufacturer, is the Hispacold Eco3 air purifier.

It produces ions and ozone in the correct proportions to disinfect the air within the coach. The Eco3 also gives the additional benefits of removing odours and raising oxygen levels, which Irizar UK says reduces the risk of driver fatigue.

Eco3 works whenever the heating or air-conditioning system is active. It is easily retrofitted to any coach or bus with air-conditioning. No routine maintenance is needed.

Both the screen sets and the eco3 unit are easy to fit, says Irizar UK. Each product can be ordered via the Masterpart operation. It can be contacted on 01909 480490 or sales@master-part.co.uk
