McGill’s Group has extended the provision of free bus travel year-round for all serving military personnel to its Eastern Scottish, Midland Bluebird and Xplore Dundee operating companies.
The Greenock-headquartered group already provides the concession at its McGill’s Buses business, where it has “proved to be a success,” the operator says. The programme has been extended further afield from 23 June to capture the business units acquired from First Bus and from National Express since 2020.
In addition to free bus travel for serving members of the armed forces, McGill’s is among a number of bus operators that will carry military veterans without charge over the weekend of 23-25 June to mark Armed Forces Day.
Speaking about the two offers, Group Managing Director Alex Hornby says: “The armed forces are close to the hearts of many of our colleagues and customers, and we are delighted to be able to support both serving military personnel and veterans celebrating Armed Forces Day this weekend.
“We also hope that our new free travel programme for serving military personnel all year round shows our commitment to these hardworking men and women.
“We have received so much positive feedback for the last number of years across Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde and we are delighted to now roll out this programme in Dundee and our networks across Scotland.”
