Mellor and Treka Bus parent company Woodall Nicholson has added to its group portfolio a dedicated technology division spearheaded by Scarborough-based ProMech Technologies. The division leads technical innovation across all Woodall Nicholson brands and it is led by John Randerson, who has been appointed the group’s Chief Technology Officer.

The division provides a “dedicated innovation and technical platform” that will allow wider market reach for Woodall Nicholson’s existing and new products while specialising in advanced technology in practical applications. It will support existing and new relationships with OEMs to bring innovations, including in e-mobility, to market.

Woodall Nicholson says it is committed to enhancing its product portfolio across all its brands “to suit the needs of customers and markets for cleaner, more efficient and cost-effective vehicles.”

The existing competencies of ProMech Technologies in driveline engineering, low-floor chassis design and e-mobility solutions will be leveraged by the development, Woodall Nicholson adds. The technology division “can provide customers with an array of innovative solutions to optimise vehicle electrification, assisting a wide range of markets to practically transition… to e-mobility.”

As Chief Technology Officer, Mr Randerson takes on overall responsibility for accelerating technical advances across all Woodall Nicholson’s vehicle manufacturing divisions. He says: “Customers are presented with ever-more exacting requirements within their operations, which in turn demands increasingly innovative technical solutions.

“We have always been an organisation that strives to provide unique and well thought out solutions for our customers. The evolution of these attributes resulted in the creation of our technology division. This allows us to enhance and broaden our approach to innovative solutions for the wider specialist vehicle market.”

An announcement is expected shortly regarding Mr Randerson’s position as Managing Director of Woodall Nicholson’s Bus Division.
