Growing numbers of smart motorways with advanced traffic management systems have increased the need for driver licence checking, says Richard Brown, Director of Sales at Licence Check (pictured).
“Drivers could notch up sufficient penalty points for disqualification on a single journey if they are not continually aware and do not observe speed limits. That increases the onus on fleet managers to check licences on a more frequent basis. Annually is no longer sufficient.”
Smart motorway speed cameras are permanently active, and the system generates tickets automatically.
Richard adds that for high-mileage drivers, Licence Check advocates four checks per annum. The company recently extended its range of services to include the Driver and Vehicle Information Solution (DAVIS) brand, a cloud-based product to help manage driver and fleet compliance.
