Catch the Bus Week 2017 has been hailed a success.

The campaign, which is in its fifth year, was launched by new Buses Minister Jesse Norman and saw more coach, bus, and community transport operators and local authorities get involved than ever before.

Running from 3-9 July this year, the campaign is organised by Greener Journeys, which launched a report during the week that found that every £1 spent on bus infrastructure can deliver £8 in economic benefits.

Operators across the country carried out promotions and events to shout about the benefits of bus travel.

Reading Buses offered a day's free travel on Sunday 9 July for anyone who downloaded the operator's app during the Week

Stagecoach Yorkshire used the Week to launch contactless payment on 380 buses across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire

Stagecoach East Midlands held awareness events in Lincoln, Mansfield, Hull and Grimsby, with games and prizes to be won

Stagecoach South Wales tweeted seven ideas of places for people to visit by bus, plus tips on why you should travel by bus

National Express West Midlands offered five days' travel for £15 instead of £19 to celebrate the Week

Brighton & Hove held a shopping centre event for the public called Your Bus Matters, with the managers including MD Martin Harris, other bus companies in the city, Mayor Mo Marsh, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK Claire Walters, and representatives from the local Bus Watch group in Brighton

Across the country Arriva offered a day's travel for £1 via its m-ticket app, and held 'A-lister roadshows' in various locations with celebrity lookalikes

Cardiff Bus held a 'treasure hunt' on Twitter, with prize vouchers hidden in locations around the city

First Bus held roadshows around the country, and tweeted humorous 'cheat on your car' memes

First York announced free wi-fi on all its buses from August

Transport for West Midlands got backing for the campaign from Mayor Andy Street, who told local people: "If you’ve not been on a bus lately then leave the car at home and see for yourself just how good it can be.”
