Newport Bus chooses Passenger for new website

Newport Bus has launched a new journey planning website in partnership with Passenger. The site allows customers to access up-to-date information, including live tracking and disruption alerts, availability of the wheelchair user space and USB charging and wi-fi facilities.

Operations Director Morgan Stevens says: “We are all very excited for the new website. It is part of important work to make our services more accessible while remaining inclusive to everyone in the community.

“Passenger has worked very quickly to deliver a site that will help our customers to confidently plan their journeys and travel with us. It is built with bus users in mind and it will complement our existing mobile app.”

Mr Stevens adds that the transfer to the new website was “pain free.” Passenger handled the move of data. Newport Bus will also be able to use a simple content management system to manage website content itself.

The partnership with the South Wales municipal operator represents a further expansion of Passenger’s business. Says CEO Tom Quay: “We are continuing to extend our services to more operators across the UK, delivering bespoke technological solutions to benefit different business sizes and needs.

“Newport Bus is highly regarded for its customer service, so we are delighted to help to enhance this offering through the launch of its new website, which prioritises efficiency and ease of use for travellers.

“As Passenger is committed to creating technology to power sustainable transport, we are also excited to support Newport Bus in its sustainability journey, as it recently announced plans to make a third of its fleet battery-electric by the end of 2021.”
