NIBS to take over Enginsbus’ seven-vehicle network in Brentwood in June

NIBS Buses of Wickford has agreed terms with Ensignbus to purchase its seven-vehicle Brentwood network.

Subject to regulatory approval, the transfer will occur on 17 June. No staff will move, although four buses will form part of the purchase.

Ensignbus says that pressures on the rest of its business – growth of its core Thurrock network and high demand for used buses – contributed to the decision to sell the Brentwood network.

“It makes good sense to both NIBS and ourselves,” adds Chairman Peter Newman. “NIBS shares our values of quality, reliable services and friendly staff. While we may some sadness at parting with the Brentwood operation, we know that NIBS will continue to nurture and grow those routes.”

Says NIBS Managing Director Bill Hiron: “NIBS already runs several routes in the Brentwood area and this acquisition will dovetail perfectly with our business.”

NIBS was purchased by Eastern Transport Holdings, owner of Stephensons of Essex, in October 2018.
