North Yorkshire County Council changes to rental approach with full maintenance support from Enterprise for six Treka Van conversions that will fulfil a varied brief; gives cost certainty, says customer
North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) has entered into a partnership with Enterprise Flex-E-Rent that has seen the commercial vehicle specialist supply it with six Mercedes-Benz Sprinters with accessible Treka Van conversions.
Taken on a five-year agreement, the minibuses provide transport for both adults and children in care centres, schools and other public facilities across the county.
They have with wheelchair lifts, tracked seating and interior facilities for users with health conditions and special needs.
Gary White, Fleet Management Officer at NYCC, says: “Previously we have always purchased and operated all of our accessible minibuses directly.
“We decided to try a rental approach because Enterprise’s specialist Flex-E-Rent division has expertise in providing these types of vehicles. It also offers certainty of cost, technical knowledge and value for money.
“Because it operates accessible minibus fleets for several other organisations, Enterprise was also able to provide vehicles on short-term rental to bridge the gap while we waited for the new Sprinters to be converted and delivered.”
Treka has converted the vehicles to NYCC’s precise specification and the contract with Enterprise includes full maintenance as well as replacement vehicles when the leased minibuses require repairs or servicing.
Adds Enterprise Flex-E-Rent Sales Director Mark Howell: “Local authorities such as NYCC need to demonstrate that they can deliver continuity of service and vehicles that are tailored to local requirements and the best value for money, as well as the highest calibre of service.
“Our experience in providing minibuses and similar accessible vehicles with the right specification, backed up by an expert engineering team and a network of 21 regional centres, means that we can supply minibuses in a way that delivers against the needs of the council, as well as drivers and passengers.”
Enterprise offers both short- and long-term rental agreements.
