Nottingham City Transport unveils Platinum Jubilee bus

Nottingham City Transport is another operator to paint a bus into a commemorative livery to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

It has treated an Alexander Dennis Enviro400-bodied Scania N 230 UD to a purple, platinum and white version of standard fleet livery. The bus was unveiled on 4 May by Lord Lieutenant Sir John Pearce, Lord Mayor of Nottingham Cllr David Trimble, NCT Managing Director David Astill and colleagues from the operator.

Says Mr Astill: “NCT has proudly served Nottingham for 144 years and it is remarkable that for almost half that time, the same sovereign, HRH Elizabeth II, has served her country and commonwealth. We think it appropriate to acknowledge her achievements on behalf of the city.”

The Scania ADL is not the first vehicle that NCT has treated to mark The Queen’s long service. In 1977, the streets of Nottingham hosted a pair of vehicles from NCT’s fleet – one bus a Daimler Fleetline, the other a Leyland Atlantean and both with NCT’s trademark body style of the period – that each gained a suitable livery to commemorate her Silver Jubilee.
