Mr Jones – known as ‘Jones the Oil’ – joined the family business when he was 15, helping in the garage. At 17 he passed his test and was able to help by driving taxis and wedding cars. Later he would drive coaches and he also become a funeral director.
He was a member and supporter of many local organisations, including the Rotary Club, the RNLI and Flint Football Club, where he was Chairman.
Throughout his career, Mr Jones was also active in many coach operators’ organisations, including the Confederation of Passenger Transport. He was also a director of the Coach Tourism Association for a number of years.
Away from the industry, Mr Jones’s passion was his garden, which he would open to the public to raise money for charity.
