From Monday (17 July) Perryman’s Buses will be known as Borders Buses.

Both are owned by West Coast Motors, which bought Perryman’s Buses in February 2016.

Borders Buses was created in March when West Coast Motors bought First Scotland East’s operations in the Scottish Borders.

Customers will benefit from transferable tickets on common lines of routes.

The change means that Borders Buses’ single network will cover the Scottish Borders, Cumbria, Northumberland, East Lothian, Midlothian and Edinburgh.

At the same time 10 Journey carnet tickets will be added, with four weekly and annual tickets expected a mobile app is launched in September.

Over the coming months the Perryman’s Buses’ brand will be replaced, with all vehicles in Borders Buses red and cream.

Scottish Borders Council’s Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure, Councillor Gordon Edgar, says: “The Council welcomes the decision by West Coast Motors to rebrand all bus services in the area as Borders Buses.

“We look forward to continuing to work with both West Coast Motors and Borders Buses to improve bus services across the Borders.”

Established in Campbeltown in 1923, privately-owned West Coast Motors’ portfolio also includes West Coast Tours, Glasgow Citybus, City Sightseeing Glasgow, Fairline Coaches and Kintyre Express, a private charter and a scheduled passenger ferry service.

Claire Lark, Borders Buses Operations Manager says: “The move to merge both brands makes perfect sense and will ensure we are being not just operationally efficient, but making full use of our combined resources too.”
