Wheelchair lift manufacturer Passenger Lift Solutions (PLS) says the arrival of its new laser cutter is leading to improvements in production efficiency and a reduction in lead times.
The cutter, which processes flat steel, will enable PLS to cut individual parts in-house for both new and existing lifts. It is set to increase the speed and precision of manufacture.
“This investment in state-of-the-art equipment enables us to deliver even more precise, high-quality components for our lifts,” says Morgan Clissett, After Sales Director at PLS. “By cutting parts in-house, we reduce wait times and increase flexibility, ensuring we can respond quickly to customer needs, especially for replacement parts or modifications.”
The business’s recently launched EA4 inboard lift is one of the products to benefit from the new laser cutter.
PLS says the EA4 is designed to be lighter, more modular and more compatible with a greater range vehicle types. It comes in three platform styles: solid, vertical split and horizontal fold.
Manufactured from high tensile steel, it has undergone extensive design and stress testing using CAD technology to ensure durability while reducing weight, according to the manufacturer.
